Kelly Day

Associate Director, Compliance
“The coolest thing about working at MidPen is that I get to ride around my neighborhood and tell my kids ‘I help build that.’ It’s a real tangible impact to my community. People will always need shelter and a home, and being able to provide a home to those who are most vulnerable is the best thing I can ask for.”

Kelly joined MidPen in February 2016 as a Temporary Leasing Agent and worked her way up to her current role as Associate Director of Compliance.

Prior to joining MidPen, Kelly worked in market-rate housing in maintenance and through this experience saw that affordable housing was desperately needed. She decided that working at MidPen would be a great way to make a real difference for people seeking high quality, safe housing.

As Associate Director of Compliance, Kelly is a liaison between MidPen and third parties when regulatory inspections or audits are being conducted. She also acts as “translator,” bridging the gap between policy and regulatory agreements, and actionable steps property staff can use.

Kelly was also instrumental in revitalizing MidPen policies to implement Housing Opportunities Through Modernization Act (HOTMA) and helped develop processes and documents that remove barriers for entry for vulnerable populations and remove administrative burdens for property staff so they can better serve applicants.

When she’s not at work, Kelly enjoys working in her garden and calls herself an Urban Guerilla Gardener. She maximizes growing space with vertical gardening and trellising and then shares the bounty with her neighbors. Kelly sees her garden as a great way to give back and get to know the community she lives in.
