Chan U brings a passion for justice, a dedication to assisting disadvantaged communities, and finely honed technical skills to the MidPen Board, joining in 2022. As the President & CEO of Devine and Gong, Inc., Chan U is actively involved in affordable housing finance and development, including notable projects such as the multi-phase Hunters View Public Housing revitalization, the development of the award-winning Holly Park, High Point, and Rainier Vista HOPE VI communities, and the preservation of Kukui Gardens in Honolulu, HI, the largest preservation project in the country.

Chan U is active in furthering public education including being on OUSD’s Measures A, B, and J Independent Citizen’s School Facilities Bond Oversight Committee, Oakland Thrives Housing Cabinet, and the Community Advisory Board for the Oakland Roots, Oakland Lacrosse Club, and the Kelsey, all nonprofits working to further racial equity and inclusive communities.
