Jennifer (Jennie) Hicks joined MidPen’s Board of Directors in 2020 and brings more than 15 years of experience advancing affordable and public housing initiatives, along with over 25 years of leadership in strategic planning, facilitation, and cross-sector collaboration across nonprofit and public systems.
Jennie is the creator and former director of HousED (Housing + Education), a nationally recognized initiative that partnered with housing agencies, school districts, and education organizations to strengthen educational supports in housing communities. This work helped establish shared standards for high-quality afterschool and out-of-school-time programs, contributing to efforts to reduce the summer learning slide and improve educational outcomes for children and youth living in affordable housing.
Jennie currently works for the City & County of San Francisco, where she supports leaders across housing, health, transportation, public safety, and human services through leadership development and organizational learning. She is deeply committed to housing as a foundation for stability, opportunity, and long-term community well-being, and to building systems where people and communities can thrive.
