Maria and Eddy

Fair Haven Commons, Fairfield

For a couple who had experienced homelessness, a stable home opened doors to community and wellbeing.

In Maria’s words:

I used to have a job in retail at Burlington, but I could no longer work due to a disability. My husband Eddy is retired and he also has a disability—he’s going blind. Unbelievably, we became homeless and for over a year and half, we were living in a Honda with our two big dogs.

Fair Haven Commons is a godsend to us. When we moved in, it was like a dream! The location is perfect, with the park and everything nearby. Eddy and I love taking the dogs out for walks. We’ve met some beautiful neighbors here… it’s like a family, people get together for dinner.

The staff here are wonderful to talk to, and they’re helping everyone a lot. I think Fair Haven Commons is a really nice, peaceful place to live. It’s quiet and I feel safe here. We’re so grateful for this opportunity and blessing—thank you for building these beautiful homes.
