Jessie Street is a two story apartment complex located near downtown Santa Cruz, convenient to shopping, transportation, and services. It was originally built as a motel in the 1940s and thus required extensive rehabilitation in order to make it suitable for permanent housing. Jessie Street now provides housing for adults with mental disabilities or transitioning from homelessness. The rehabilitation included transforming the some of the apartments into one-bedroom units, as well as interior and exterior painting and bathroom upgrades. Jessie Street shares a leasing and management office with nearby community, Emerald Hill.
