Kiku Crossing

Description

Kiku Crossing will provide 225 affordable homes for families and individuals in San Mateo, including 22 units for formerly homeless households and 8 units for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and 57 units for public employees. Construction started in January 2022 and is expected to complete in spring 2024.

Who qualifies as a public employee?

“General Public Employees” are defined as those who work for the City of San Mateo, County of San Mateo, and eight additional taxing entities that are the successors to the former Redevelopment Agency, the State of California, or the Federal Government of the United States. The eight additional taxing entities include, San Mateo-Foster-City School District, San Mateo Union High School District, San Mateo Community College District, San Mateo County Office of Education, Bay Area Air Quality Management, San Mateo County Harbor District, San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District, the Peninsula Health Care District, and the Sequioa Hospital District. In the event that there are an insufficient number of General Public Employees who live or work in the City of San Mateo to occupy all 57 units, the remaining available units will be rented to eligible General Public Employees regardless of the location of their employment or residence.
