Green Building

Protecting the Environment Wherever We Build

MidPen is committed to using sustainable practices in our work and the communities we serve. All new construction incorporates superior standards in environmentally-friendly design and materials that exceed California’s stringent energy codes. Drought resistant plants are used in landscaping.

We also continually invest in energy-efficient upgrades and renovations to our existing properties. Additionally, many MidPen communities are models for best-practices in infill and transit-oriented development.

Award-winning Sustainable Practices

MidPen’s sustainable practices have been recognized by the communities where we develop as well as the agencies which monitor green building.

LEED Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council

LEED is a certification program through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) that provides independent verification of a building or neighborhood’s green features. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. LEED for Homes is a green home certification program that rewards homes that are designed and built to be energy and resource efficient. LEED certified homes complete a technically rigorous process that includes onsite inspections and testing to verify the building is built to be energy and water efficient, environmentally sound, and a healthier place to live.

GreenPoint Rated by Build It Green

GreenPoint Rated is the most trusted independent green home certification program in California, providing proof that a home is healthy, comfortable, durable, and resource efficient. More than 31,000 homes have been rated through the program, administered by Build It Green. The GreenPoint Rated New Home Single Family (NHSF) and New Home Multifamily (NHMF) certification systems are standards for a residential green building rating system and were originally modeled after Build It Green’s New Construction Green Building Guidelines. A major objective of the NHSF and NHMF systems is to educate homeowners about the benefits of green construction.
