MidPen Housing, one of the most trusted nonprofit developers, owners and managers of high-quality affordable housing in Northern California, has received its first Great Place to Work certification.
“Our certification as a Great Place to Work® is all about our employees,” said Matthew O. Franklin, President and CEO of MidPen Housing. “While we are certainly proud of the recognition, it speaks volumes about the essential work that we do and the way employees care for each other, our communities, and our residents.”
MidPen’s investment in employees has been demonstrated throughout the COVID-19 pandemic as cultural norms have shifted. Rooted in their ICARE values (Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence), and guided by the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, MidPen employees have acclimated to new and innovative ways to support each other and residents over the last year – more than 50% are frontline workers – through learning and moving forward together.
As a result of the Trust Index Survey conducted by Great Place to Work®, 88% of MidPen employees responded positively to the statement “Taking everything into account, I would say this is a great place to work.” MidPen also scored 90% in the focus area of Justice, which is reflective of the organization’s efforts in social justice in affordable housing.
The Great Place to Work® Certification truly is a testament to the work we have done together over the last year,” said Terry Hill, MidPen’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources. “We are committed to continuous improvement, and we must continually strive to be a learning, inclusive, and innovative organization in order to be a Great Place to Work year after year.”
MidPen has been in the business of strengthening communities since 1970. They do this by building and managing high quality, award-winning affordable housing and providing onsite services that empower residents to advance in all areas of their lives. They are one of the nation’s largest non-profit developers and owners of affordable housing — to date, they have developed over 100 communities across Northern California and provide more than 8,000 affordable homes for low-income working families, seniors and people with special needs. In addition, the MidPen Services team makes a significant investment in equipping residents to take full advantage of the opportunities that stable, affordable housing provides.
