The residents of Palo Alto Gardens organized and lobbied their elected officials to have MidPen Housing Corp. acquire the affordable housing community when it was at risk of turning into market rate rental housing in pricey Palo Alto. With assistance from funders, MidPen took over development and management of the community and began rehabilitation.
